In 2011 I first came into contact with A.R.T. Fusion and we connected instantly. I started working as a volunteer on the team promoting the European Volunteering Service and then joined more and more projects and events supported by the association. In March of 2013 I took it to the next level and started an internship on the 2% campaign. The culmination of my internship was my becoming a permanent asset to A.R.T Fusion. Presently, within the association, I am Executive Director and also responsible for coordinating the Human Library method. I graduated Political Sciences, within the SNSPA (The National School of Political and Administrative Studies), majoring in Sociology. In my spare time, especially during summertime and autumn, I like to make vegetable preserves, such as jarred pickles, jams and the traditional Romanian “zacusca”, and in the wintertime I practice snowboarding.
I have been responsible for Forum Theater activities and Volunteer Coordinator within A.R.T. Fusion since May 2014. I participated in the second edition of the School of Theater Forum (2012) and since 2013 have been responsible for educational activities within the third edition of the School of Forum Theater. I facilitate FT workshops and train others to work with the method. I am trained in the ESPERE method and I have been holding communication workshops and individual counselling sessions for parents since 2012. I have organized workshops in collaboration with AVATAR Association, the Montessori Children Educational Centre and Iângã Pingași, I’ve written several articles on topics including education, parenting, relationships and emotional intelligence. I attended Economical High School Virgil Madgearu and realized in the 11th grade that I was interested in Psychology, not Economy. I graduated from Sociology and Social Work College, Department of Social Work, hold a master’s degree in Evaluation and Supervision in Social Work and I will finalize my PhD in Sociology with the thesis “Emotional Intelligence and Volunteering” this year (2014). On a personal note, I have been married since 2003 and have been mother to Bogdan since 2010, from whom I have learned more about myself, about life and relationships than from all my previous experiences. This is me, Gabriela, with roles I’ve told you about and others. I like to read (Mircea Eliade is my favorite author – same star sign as me), to go for walks and I am passionate about personal growth and esoterism.
I have been volunteering constantly for the past 2 years and I plan to continue this even now when I am part of the A.R.T. Fusion team. Before getting here, I had numerous jobs, from interview operator for marketing and research companies to bartender in the Old City Center for a couple of years, from tourism agent for 3 months to cashier in Cora supermarket for a day, to event, concert, festival production assistant at Star Education Association until 1 month ago. Professionally, I graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies, Cybernetics Department. I am also a facilitator in Forum Theater, second generation, and multiplier of methods for developing and implementing street campaigns (the methods are: Image Theater, Street Theater, street animation, Living Library etc). In my free time I like to glide, hike and swim.
